Julian Giron's Artist Books

like oxygen, we are never aware of the feeling of being alive.

The Viva La Revolucion exhibit in Downtown San Diego was definitely amazing! I am a huge Shepperd Fairey fan and i admire the work that he has done. He has always been one of the artist’s who inspires me. When i first walked into the exhibit i was un aware that some of Banksy’s pieces were going to be on display, although i could not take pictures of it, i was excited to see them upclose.

The whole exhibit inside the gallery was very contemporary and very young which i liked because i can relate to that. When i went into the room showcasing Shepperd Fairey’s work, i was amazed because it seemed like he used different colors than what he normally does. Although the subject matter was the same, and the line and technique was the same, the colors were different which i also liked.

One of the pieces i found that was my favorite was “Scratching the Surface” by Vhils. It caught my eye the second i walked into the big room because i am a person who really loves composition. I loved the composition of the piece and i definitely loved the materials used. I would have never thought of using bricks to create something so big and enormous!

Unfortunately i did not have time to go out to the streets and see more of the street art, it would have been a good treat but i did not have time.

The show inside the gallery was really amazing and i am glad that it was in San Diego. I feel that there is a lot of young artists in San Diego and that show is inspiring to everyone.
