For the middle half of my book, i am going to put various pictures of my friend who does Cosplay.  Cosplay which is short for “Costume Roleplaying” is where someone would dress up as a specific character from pop culture. In this case i am going to be taking pictures of my friend who is heavily into japanse animation. She dresses up and has many costumes of various characters.

For the next section, im going to be taking pictures of various food from asian cultures. I know how to make a couple of Korean Dishes, I will take pictures of Filipino Food made at home, and i will take pictures of sushi.

For the end i will be scanning and putting up pictures of where i lived. I have a lot of picrtures from when i lived in Korea, so i will scan all the documents ive saved.

James Nachtwey

There are a lot of photographic journalists in the world, some of whom i dont know of, but today in class learned about a photographer who covered many of the problems faced in the world today. James Nachtwey covered afghanistan, aids in africa, Indonesia, and many civil war conflicts. His pictures are quite brilliant and absolutely striking. Unlike other photographers, Nachtwey’s pictures are very emotional and you could just feel what the subject must have been going through. Pictures that have a lot of emotion tend to inspire, and i believe that Nachtwey’s pictures probably inspired a lot of people. Just the tone of his voice you would think that this guy cares about the problems in the world. There are not that many people in the world and it is refreshing that there are still people who are willing to expose the truth. The world is a scary place where millions of people suffer.JN0004INDO_GA_40-28

_Roni Horn

Roni Horn strikes me as a person who captures the simple aspects of art. I was suprised how powerful her images were even though they were so simple. She liked to use water as an art, and anyone who uses any natural elements in context can be very powerful. In the video she explained a lot about metaphors. She stated that metaphors are use to distinguish and to create. I agree with this because as artists, i believe the use of metaphors is very common. Unlike metaphors, Cliches are common also common. The thing about cliches is that when they are used too much, they fall out of context and become pointless.

Roni Horn comes off as an artist who does not label herself. She creates be cause she creates. That is probably the one thing i respect from her.

I could feel how bittersweet it was on the last day of his 90 day quest to take pictures. The thing i like about Brandenburg and his journey was that he did that whole thing for himself. He was not searching for praise, he was not doing it for the money, it was strictly for himself. He even said that all the pictures sat on a shelf for two years until National Geographic was interested in the pictures. It was refreshing to hear that so many people were inspired by his photos, a lot of activists and green organizations admired his work. My favorite photo was probably the one of the deer eye. He explained that he saw the innocence of the freshly killed dear in the eyes. Pictures like that are very vibrant yet very heart broken because of the story behind it. He explained that a poacher shot the deer and only took meat off the back.

Sally Mann strikes me as a person who definitely works old fashion. I mean you can tell by her pieces that she enjoys to work really hard. She also strikes me as a person who probably puts her ART before family. Still, her photos are absolutely amazing. I dont think ive seen pictures like these. They have a old fashion yet vibrant feel about them. I guess its because of how she works and how she takes the pictures. Her pictures remind me of old Vaudeville theatre and the years of Buster Keaton.
